To the Virginia Board of Health:I strongly urge you to maintain and substantially strengthen existing abortion center regulations, as they constitute an absolute necessity for protecting Virginia women. In particular, abortion center regulations must take into account and do a better job of protecting against child sexual abuse by reporting all possible cases, and by stringently ensuring that parental consent laws are followed, as well as seeing that sanitation and hygiene standards are kept high. Abortion facilities in our state have proved time and again through various and repeated violations they are not able or not willing to adequately self-regulate; thus, it is the duty of our Commonwealth to ensure protection for those of our women who tragically choose abortion.
