Board of Health,
It is ridiculous that a health professional is not allowed to give a child an aspirin in a public school, but that women may have an invasive, abortive procedure in a facility that fails to meet basic health and safety standards, isnt clean, and is devoid of properly trained staff. Without the appropriate health measures in place, it appears to me that the STATE is sanctioning the equivalent of back alley abortions. To be clear, I wish no abortions happened - except in the VERY rare instances of endangerment to the life of the mother. However, I tend to focus on helping men and women change the mindsets, behaviors and culture that result in so many elective abortions. But at the very least, this incredibly serious procedure (which includes deep psychological as well as physical ramifications) should be done in settings that meet the most basic safety standards.
