No More Changes to Voter ID Legislation!

Given the virtual non-existence of voter fraud in Virginia, I wonder why a change to the Voter ID requirement, to include a photo, is necessary. But, if a photo ID is required, then I support the retention of the current definition of “valid ID” as adopted on June 10. I find the proposed changes to be confusing. An ID containing the voter’s name and photo and “appearing to be genuinely issued by the agency or issuing entity” shown on the document should be ample proof of the voter’s bona fides. Limiting the validity of an expired ID is unnecessary, especially since not all IDs include an expiration date. Further, searching for a (possibly non-existent) expiration date would place an additional burden on the election officers and delay other voters waiting to exercise their right to vote. Long story short: Stick with the June 10 adopted definition!
