I have to wonder where these far fetched ideas are coming from. Certainly not someone who is living or working with a consumer who receives the DD waiver.
i am strongly opposed to this proposed ‘soft cap’ on hours for the waiver. Currently hours are calculated based on needs for individual. Now you want to say we are only going to help you 1/3 of the day. That is not safe for many of this vulnerable population. My daughter is 32, fully dependent on someone for all of her needs. She was 8 when a brain tumor took away her independence and she will never get it back. What is she supposed to do when no one is available to help her… sit and stare at the wall? You have to ask what would you want for your family member and no concentrate on a balance sheet.
i also am opposed to service facilitators. I think this areas need drastic overall and no one has been overseeing these companies for years but to rely on a payroll company to provide human interaction to help families find services they need is ludicrous. This areas need to be broken out as it is now or given responsibility to the CSBs. They already interact and know the families and would be best to fight for them.
