I'm the mother of a 24-yr old who has lifelong disabilities. Our Service Facilitator has been with us since she was in grade school, knows our complex history and understands my daughter's limitations and messy medical history. I'm aging and won't be here to liaison for my daughter much longer. We need the continuity provided by our Service Facilitator to help her keep the services that are necessary for her health and wellbeing.
Too many of the federal and state services are being dumped into computer systems that lack details that a Service Facilitator scribbles in the margins or just remembers over the years. That in depth knowledge of clients is irreplaceable. The Service Facilitator is the human on the other end of the phone who can talk a confused parent through steps to ensure their child is covered by the services they need. Please don't take this away from us.
