If anything, hours should be increased for caregivers. The amount of time, which is ALL Day for me as a caregiver, of not only my mother (who we unfortunately lost a few years ago), but now my father. Caregiver is not only cleaning house, making breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. There's laundry, scheduling doctor appointments. Taking to and from doctor appointments. Making sure medications are ordered, picked up, dispensed each day appropriately. It's also, baths, shaving, when he's constipated (helping to release stool in a safe manner.) Then dyalysis 5 times a week. Ensuring safety protocols are met, alarms are attended to urgently, and fixed. Pain control before cannulation. Disposal of all of the trash and blood products. Monitoring arterial and envious pressures. Then ensuring grass is cut. Weed eating is done. Pressure washing mold off the home. Maintenance on home heating/A/C, refrigerator, camera security systems. Vehicle maintenance,  paying bills, grocery shopping,.I'll stop here because I literally could go on forever. And if you haven't noticed yet, I've not said one thing about my life, my doctors, my needs. ANY caregiver who is truly a caregiver and doing what is needed and required should be earning a WHOLE LOT MORE than what's allowed. In my personal opinion.
