Oxford Houses have saved my life over the years. They always had a spot for me and the doors open, a safe warm bed to sleep in after a long day. When I first started my recovery journey in 2018 I was going to be homeless after getting out of detox and that’s when I learned of Oxford. They didn’t judge me or scoff at me for being early in recovery, they interviewed me and accepted me. I went into that Oxford house naive and left having learned so much from the women I lived with. It changed my life and my outlook on recovery. It planted the seed for me when I was in my early 20s. Now in my early 30s I am back in Oxford, having grown as a person, over 2 years of sobriety and I feel at home here. Oxford will always be a huge and important part of my story and I know many others story as well. Keep Oxford houses democratically run! It holds so much weight and teaches accountability that we NEED in our recovery. We need to learn how to live and grow and even make mistakes. Oxford is the best place for that. KEEP OXFORD OPEN AND DEMOCRATICALLY RUN!
