When you go get a dental cleaning, would you rather just get half the buildup off with an assistant, or ALL the buildup off from a dental hygienist? Well, with this bill using a dental assistant for cleanings, the Board of Dentistry is basically saying it’s ok for Virginians to pay for a full car wash yet have their car coming out with mud/hard debris stuck to the very bottom and wheels of your car still. The paint looks good though ??‍??
THE PUBLIC DESERVES BETTER THAN A HALF ASS CLEANING!!

If you really want to help resolve the hygiene shortage, make insurance companies reimburse dental offices better (most companies haven’t increased payout rates in 10+ years) and we see how crazy the inflation is currently. Creating and allocating funds to help improve and increase hygiene programs state-wide would help too. There’s only ODU and VCU currently available for those programs. Virginia Peninsula Community College lost their accreditation due to lack of staffing…..disgraceful. Shame on you BOD. So do right by the American people and advocate for BETTER, not a sub-par alternative.
