Move Industrial Fishing Out of the Bay

As a wildlife photographer I have had a front row seat to the decline of osprey in my area of Cape Charles, VA.  The pairs are working hard to maintain in the face of development, but they can't fight the industrial fishing that is starving them and their young.  It's heartbreaking to watch the chicks killing each other in hopes of getting the small amount of fish the adults can bring back.  Or worse, to watch the female abandon the nest with eggs in it because she's starving.  Since osprey only feed on fresh fish they are a harbinger to the greater damage being done to the Bay ecosystem by this continued depletion of a foundational species.  No one wants to put the fishermen in Reedville out of a job, but they have the option of going to the ocean waters 3 miles off shore to make their catch.  The local fishermen, sport fish, ospreys and other critters that depend on menhaden don't have that option.  Please do the right thing and take immediate action to stop this practice until REAL science can be done to protect our national treasure - the Chesapeake Bay.
