I oppose what is being proposed in this petition: implementing this petition means giving room for a restrictive rhetoric such as “boys must be boys and girls must be girls” to fester even more in our current environment. Humans on a generational scale are bound to change their own ideas of identity, so why should a singular party be allowed to make the decision to box other people’s identities into categories for other people? What morals does having autonomy over your own identity violate?
