Hi, I've known I was trans since I was six years old, back when I lived in California as a young girl. And I've grown into a beautiful woman. The constant attacks on trans people (all over the world) are, frankly, backed by a myriad of people: Willfully ignorant politicians, medical professionals who refuse to follow institutions that have been around for multiple decades, authors, like J.K. Rowling (who has negatively impacted the lives of trans people in the U.K. with her hatred), and the list only goes on longer than this.
The American Psychiatric Association (APA) stands behind trans people and has been around since October 16, 1844. That's ONE-HUNDRED EIGHTY years of experience, education, research, time, and understanding put into so many different types of conditions (including Gender Dysphoria). So, for our politicians to ignore one of many long-standing organizations is beyond ridiculous. But, not just politicians, even the anti-trans people making trash comments on the petition for this very ruling itself.
The hate for trans people, but especially trans girls and trans women is nothing less than fear mongering. When I go to the restroom/washroom, it's literally to relieve myself like any other person going into that same space as me.
You're so worried about men "pretending" to be women so that they can invade women's spaces and be predatory, why don't you look no further than you pastors in your churches, your neighbors, your relatives, before you even THINK about coming for trans girls and trans women with your garbage opinions.
So, please, find it in your tiny hearts to hold space and keep ALL women (cis, trans, gender non-conforming) safe, regardless of spaces shared!
Regards,
Chloe, a trans woman who just wants to live the ONE life she gets, happily and healthily
