I am writing to indicate that I *strongly* oppose this petition.  The petition is thinly-veiled discrimination against trans people and, though it claims to be about safety, will most likely make participants *less* safe.  We should not discriminate against trans folks because of who they are but should instead protect the health and well-being of *all* Virginians, trans folks included.  This petition is part of a larger effort by special interest groups to force transgender people and, more broadly, LGBTQ folks out of public life.  That sort of discrimination and isolation is bad for all of us and it's a distraction from the real problems that we face.  Virginia is stronger together.
