I write a the parent of a daughter who played women’s soccer. Our daughter was the VHSL state player off the year in 2000 and went on to play at the D-1 level for four years in college. Growing up in our city female soccer was not an option she had until high school so in middle school she played—and started—on the boys team. With that experience I write to ask for wisdom on the part of Virginia to prevent biological males from competing with females. My daughter was a superb athlete and as good as she was competition with male athletes would have changed her whole trajectory in competitive sports—she would not have won the awards she did, and she would. Not have had the college level monetary help in the form of scholarships.
Simple fairness, common sense and common decency recognizes the great strides women have made in athletics and competitive sports since the legislative passing of Title 9. Please don’t allow biological men to compete with women or enter their safe spaces…..choose wisdom and common sense to Virginia women AND men!
