Anyone who believes this petition solely concerns the presence of trans women in girls' athletics is either ignorant, stupid, or malicious. Those who support this petition should be deeply ashamed of themselves. 

This petition does not just seek to deny an incredibly small minority of athletes from competing (there are less than a dozen NCAA athletes who are trans women), it seeks to discriminate against all trans women in all public spaces. It straightforwardly aims to prevent trans women from accessing public facilities such as restrooms.

I have trans friends and trans family who have been harassed and assaulted for using the public facilities designated for their assigned sex. Multiple have been sexually assaulted and one has even been threatened at gunpoint. A ban on trans women using womens' facilities is intentionally exposing them to violence. 

Not only does this severely impact the ability of trans women to participate in public life, it will also harm ALL women who are not perceived as being sufficiently feminine. If a woman is too tall, too large, has facial hair from PCOS, has a deep voice, or just doesn't look "right," she will be harassed and denied access to public facilities by emboldened transphobes. 

Do you want your daughters to be endangered by self-appointed "restroom guardians" who will harass, assault, and possibly murder them because they might "look trans"?
