Oppose Increase

Nursing licensure fees in Virginia are used to fund scholarships and process applications and background checks. Scholarships that I have never received while in nursing school and have student loans that I am paying back to prove it. Every background check that has been completed concerning my nursing career, I’ve either paid out of pocket or my job paid for it. What applications are being processed once a RN becomes a RN by VBON?  Updated on February 9, 2025, the average salary for a registered nurse in Virginia is $37.57. This is 19% lower than the US average of $44.60. Increasing fees for existing nurses in Virginia serves no purpose other than trying to get free money that does not serve the nurse in anyway. We are already underpaid, with inflation, health insurance premium increases, and minimal annual job increases. We do this job not because it's the highest paid job, because it's not. Many people now without degrees make more than us and do not have student loans either. We save lives, keep your family members healthy and this is the what we receive in return? I oppose.
