I strongly oppose the proposed significant increase in renewal fees by the Virginia Board of Nursing. The discrepancies in fee adjustments among nursing roles appear arbitrary and raise concerns about the intent behind these changes, giving the impression of a revenue-generating measure rather than a necessary adjustment. At a time when nurses are facing immense challenges—including workforce shortages, burnout, and economic strain—such a substantial increase places an undue burden on those dedicated to patient care. I urge the Board to reconsider this proposal and seek a more reasonable, transparent approach that fairly accounts for the realities faced by nursing professionals.
