Since 2004, when I began to fish the bay, I have seen a steady and then dramatic drop in the numbers of menhaden I see when I fish the bay. I have also noted a significant drop in the number of osprey nests as I motor out the creek. Is this drop due to too few menhaden to feed the chicks? In the last two years, I have not found one school of menhaden in the bay.
