Support in-office laser procedures for Doctors of Optometry

Support the draft regulations as presented. This was drafted with input from optometry AND ophthalmology. Optometrists have been doing these procedures since the 90s!

Furthermore, a study by Lighthizer et. Al. Nd:YAG Laser Capsulotomy: Efficacy and Outcomes Performed by Optometrists” found that YAG capsulotomy procedures performed by licensed ODs were safe and effective. 99% of patients reported improvement in visual acuity and there were no significant adverse events noted. This and other findings continue to contribute to a growing body of evidence that these procedures can be safely and effectively performed by licensed optometrists.
