Allowing optometrists to perform laser treatments can enhance patient access to care, especially in underserved areas, and help alleviate the burden on ophthalmologists, enabling them to focus on more complex surgical cases. It would make it a lot easier for patients to get treated in a timely manner if optometrists can perform lasers.
