I am writing as a concerned citizen in the Commonwealth. I did not previously know that our government is allowing non-surgeons to operate on our eyes. I am even more concerned that our government is recommending that a lower standard of care be expected of optometrists than the eye surgeon ophthalmologists are required to meet. Please do everything you can to ensure the highest standards of care are not
compromised. Please ensure that optometrists are required to perform the same laser
training that ophthalmologists are required, including live proctored cases, prior to being
allowed to operate on our eyes.
