Over 146k laser procedures have been performed by optometrists with zero resulting malpractice suits, so obviously optometrists are perfectly capable of performing these without harm to patients. Optometry schools have been teaching laser procudres for decades at this point, optometrists spend more than 10000 hours training to diagnose and treat eye diseases, to imply that there is nothing but a "weekend" course involved is disingenuous at best.
