I am writing you as a concerned citizen in the Commonwealth.  I just learned that the government is now allowing non-surgeons to operate on our citizen's eyes. What is more concerning is that the government is recommending a lower standard of care be
expected of these non-surgeons than what is currently required for an eye surgeon ophthalmologists.  This is totally unacceptable.  Please do everything you can to ensure the highest standards of care are not compromised. Please ensure that optometrists are required to have the same laser training that ophthalmologists are required to have, including live proctored cases, prior to being allowed to operate on our eyes.
