- For those who already us GPS,  delays and unreliability have been experienced. Systems are prone to errors and experience interference with other GPS collars, making them unreliable at times. They also have periodic update issues & short range in rural areas.

      -  The requirement to purchase tracking equipment (specifically GPS tracking equipment) is an unreasonable expense proposed as a requirement on a hound owner simply to fair chase game within the state. Systems are expensive.

      

      - Virginia does not require GPS tracking equipment/use for ANY other recreational or food gathering activity within the State. Keep in mind a good portion of hunters overall are hunting and processing deer and bear for food - MAJORITY are hound hunters.

      

      - This requirement has not been required of any other domesticated dog/animal owner. This proposal is targeted to certain hunting groups and is prejudice in nature. Even dogs deemed dangerous by the courts within the state are not subject to this requirement. 

      

      - Hounds are docile in nature and pose no human harm risk to warrant the requirement. They do not linger in an area unless fed by the property owner, which entices them to return and is discouraged.

 

      - Dogs are already required to have name identification and collar.
