Kratom, mitragyna speciosa, is an herb used as a natural opioid substitute. It is amongst the safest and least addictive/problematic of all alternatives. It does not cause death by respiratory depression like traditional opioids. In appropriate doses, it does not cause vomiting like buprenorphine does. Death involving kratom is very rare and often due to other factors.

I have used kratom for the past three years in order to help cope with a period of severe emotional turmoil. In my experience with various substances, kratom has been the least expensive, most sustainable, least intrusive/debilitating, and safest. It is like a cup of coffee. In fact, I have suffered more from caffeine withdrawal than kratom withdrawal, so why don't you ban coffee instead?! Oh, but you wouldn't want to do that now would you?! You're probably sipping on a Starbucks right now! 

Maybe instead of listening to bourgeoisie doctors spouting elitist opinions from ivory towers, you should try listening to people who have real world experience!
