It is essential that commercial menhaden fisheries eliminate interactions between gear and benthos to achieve sustainability of public trust resources including species, including protected species, and habitats that other species rely on. Please enforce firm restrictions on depth limits for purse seines targeting menhaden to minimize impacts to nontarget species and benthic habitats.
