After successfully navigating the 4th Appeal of my son's reduction of authorized hours, I have come to the conclusion that governmental agencies should not be in the "driver's seat" to determine the quantity of hours and the caregivers of choice for our children with special needs. Allowing parents and "legally responsible individuals" to be paid providers is many times the most cost effective and realistic answer to this hard reality. Paid Agency caregivers need extensive training and come and go frequently based on the minimal pay. But with government programs, come more and more restrictive guidelines and funny enough....more government entities and individuals required to facilitate the guidelines....please keep it simple. Allow legally responsible individuals to care for their children using their authorized hours. Thank you!
