Concerned Parent

I am a concerned mom with a special needs child. I ask that you please continue to allow parents to be the caregivers for their children. My daughter has a rare genetic disorder that causes epilepsy amongst other medical conditions. I left my profession as a Respiratory therapist in order to provide care to my daughter due to her complex needs and the amount of specialist appointments and therapy visits she requires weekly. It would be very hard to hold a job with the amount of time missed from work. It is so important to understand that caring for a child with complex medical needs requires great knowledge of the child and his/her diagnosis, it is hard to have someone else come into your home to take care of a child not even knowing him/her or anything about their disorder. I personally do not have other resources such as friends or family that can assume that role as a personal care attendant for her. Therefore, I would have to hire a stranger or continue the role myself. Living on 1 income is very hard, especially during these times. I ask that you please reconsider the proposal and continue to allow parents as caregivers.
