As most people know, a person's signature does not have to be legible:  when was the last time you saw a doctor's signature that you could read?  It is challenging enough to vote by absentee ballot in Virginia (for the past few years, my college-student daughter voted using absentee ballots, and it was always a challenge to get the ballot, and then get it submitted in time to count in the election.), let alone putting additional roadblocks in the way of those who care enough to excercise their voting rights in the first place!
