The wishes of adults don't trump the rights of children

Simply put, research shows that children adopted to a home with a married man and woman are more successful in life in many ways. On the other hand, children adopted to same-gender couples are more likely to have series challenges in life such as clinical depression, and are more likely to encounter negative situations such as sexual abuse or drug abuse.

The wishes of same-gender parents do not trump the rights of children to be put in successful homes. Adoption agencies that follow research (as well as sound common sense!) should not be forced to close their doors, which further denies children the good homes they deserve.

Proposed Virginia Administrative Code section 22 VAC 40-131-17 should never be made law. The unstable homes of same-gender couples should be changed, not the law.
