After having worked in nursing for over twenty-five years, some of your proposed changes to the adoption regulations will have great harm for children. From my many years of working in the psychiatric mental health field, your proposed change to discriminate and ignore the faith-based adoption agencies is quite short sighted. One of the most stable and bonding factors for family cohesion is faith. When people are truly ill, it is the family and their belief in their particular religion that gives them strength and solice to travel whatever medical journey they may be dealing with at the time. In hospitals, ones see this strength and its benefits to individuals and families everyday. To deny or ignore, the importance and substainance that can be afforded to adopted children by faith-based agencies is discriminatory to the children.
