In Virginia we have a legal standard of family based on the marriage of one man and one woman. 

Children should always be placed in families whenever possible.

Young boys need to be raised with the balance of a mother who nurtures and a father who models healthy male behavior for him, teaching him how to work, be responsible, relate appropriately and respectfully to the opposite sex, and lead a future family of his own. 

Girls need a strong, protective, manly father figure and a mother who models for them how to be a woman, how to relate appropriately to the opposite sex, and how to care for their own future family.

As to the proposal that all adoptive agencies be required to be unbiased to the sexual orientation of applicants, obsurd! 

First, it gives implied support to something that is not even legal in Virginia. This action is not based on good law, it is based on pressure from a minority group and fear from administrations of not being politically correct.  It is time to forget about political correctness and look at the founding principles of this country and the practices of family and society that have served us so well for centuries... including adoptive practices.

Second, to place innocent children into such environments would pretty much ensure that the child would grow to have a confused and skewed view of the person God created them to be.  That would not be in the best interest of the child.

Third, since this is also a matter of a faith based conviction to many people, our constitution protects individuals from being forced to act outside the boundaries of those convictions.  Just as a doctor whose religious convictions would never allow him to commit abortion could not be forced to do so,  so anyone whose religious convictions stand against homosexual behavior should never be forced to place a child they have been intrusted into the hands of anyone known to be gay.

This is another example to too much government regulation and intrusion!  The system is not broken.  Don't break it trying to change it.  If gays want children, they should have them, it is their right. But let them figure out how to give birth to their own or let them convince the actual parents to give them their child... after giving them a full disclosure of their sexual orientation.
