Virginia is at the center of a booming data center industry which requires an incredibly high amount of energy. The Virginia Energy Plan needs to incorporate a robust plan on load, transmission, and generation. Dominion is projecting massive increases in energy usage in light of the continuing data center development. According to Dominion they've provided over 2.6 gigawatts of capacity in Northern Virginia since 2019. We need a comprehensive and robust plan for how we are going to transmit and generate this kind of increasing power need and we need to encourage energy conservation in this industry. If growth in the industry and energy generation continues as we are doing now, 10's of thousands of acres of agricultural land and forest land will be destroyed and replaced with utility scale solar and even more forestland will be lost to miles of transmission lines. We hope this energy plan will address this critical issue.
