STRONLY OPPOSE

This policy is a direct censorship of and in conflict with the values of public education in Virginia. By allowing such broad and indiscriminate censorship, this policy severely limits the opportunities and quality of the Virginia Public Education system and is expressly anti-free speech. This policy targets curriculum by and/or that includes LGBTQ people and Black, Indigenous, and other communities of color, which include many youth who are served by the Virginia Public Education system. This puts many youth at risk of discrimination, violence, suicide and an overall pushes a lack of diverse viewpoints and experiences that limits their potential onto ALL VIRGINIA STUDENTS. This policy is an unacceptable attempt at preventing millions of Virginia youth their right to not only free speech, but also a safe, supportive and quality education.
