Parents have a right to be notified ahead of time regarding any explicit or pornographic content their child may be viewing at school, whether online, in a movie, worksheet, book or other instructional materials. Several public school students have been exposed to sexually explicit materials on school computers. This must stop. It is crucial children feel safe in school, learning the basics, reading, writing, creating etc. It also is of particular concern for those children who may have been traumatized as using explicit material could trigger former abuse. Kids should not be traumatized in school or triggered, nor should they or their parents have to worry about their safety. Parents should not only be notified, but common sense would also suggest, that this should not even be occurring in our schools in the first place.
