I strongly oppose this guidance, especially the "right to protect innocence" which is just a "right" to keep children ignorant of information that frightens parents. Children are not helped by being kept unaware of the existence of sex, or of other potentially disturbing topics like murder, racism, rape, and war. Many children have already experienced these in their lives and can be helped by dealing with them openly instead of trying to hide them in shame and ignorance. We should trust educators to use age-appropriate materials to deal with these topics instead of restricting them.
