VDOE model policies for Instructional Materials with Sexually Explicit Content

I support these critically important model policies in order to protect children from inappropriate sexual content at school and to respect parent's rights to determine whether their children are exposed to this content. Not only do parents have the  fundamental right to make these decisions, but they are in the BEST positions to determine what is appropriate for their unique children. Please make sure there are specific actions in this document that EVERY school MUST take in order to make sure sexually explicit materials are correctly identified and seen by parents first. Certain minimum standards need to be expressly mandated because many schools could find ways around what they consider to be mere guidance by using suggestions or examples.
