Cultural competency training for teachers is a fundamental step (really, it's the bare minimum) to ensure that all children in increasingly diverse VA schools have a safe and inclusive space to learn. Teachers who respect and understand students' differing cultural identities will inherently be more successful in creating engaging, inclusive academic environments with higher achievement for all students. Don't forget -- this should be about what's best for the kids.
