I’m so glad Virginia has taken steps to increase cultural competency in its schools. This empowers teachers and promotes diversity amount teachers. Having teachers that that students can identify with creates an environment where students are more likely to thrive, and have a greater sense of belonging. I hope other states follow Virginia’s lead to provide a safe environment for all its students.
