Guidance Document Change: In 2021, the Virginia General Assembly passed House Bill 1904 and Senate Bill 1196, and was signed into law by Governor Northam. The law establishes new requirements to support culturally competent educators in the Commonwealth. The Guidance on Cultural Competency Training for Teachers and Other Licensed School Board Employees in Virginia Public Schools was developed for the Board to fulfill the statutory mandate to provide guidance on the minimum standards for the local training requirement.

No to Cultural Competency Training

“Cultural Competency Training”  is another Trojan Horse being utilized by the progressive radical left as a way to push the nefarious concepts of Critical Race Theory (CRT) into the education system.

Instead of training teachers on best practices for providing our children with an honest and practical education that enlightens and uplifts, these types of training ultimately assert that teachers should spend more time indoctrinating their students with fallacious ideologies that demonize and destroy.

In subtle, perhaps seemingly insignificant ways, CRT will be only continue to be promoted and advanced into Virginia’s K-12 classrooms through the back door of Cultural Competency Training and the like.

CRT (i.e. equity, diversity, inclusion, etc.) is creating more problems than it is solving. America will never overcome its existing challenges by employing philosophies grounded in Marxism or any philosophy that asserts practices and narratives that wholly contradict country’s authentic ideals and honorable heritage.

I voice my complete and absolute opposition to the Virginia DOE implementing any policy or measure that is at all remotely related to Critical Race Theory.
