While I appreciate the Commonwealth forestry service (the Forester) proposing to the Commonwealth to rewrite the forestry regulations to end the ban on carrying concealed handguns in the Commonwealth's forests; I would respectfully and gently insist that the proposal be re-written to also include open carrying of handguns as well. I respectfully would inform the forestry service that the Attorney General's office has already opined that banning open carry in the Commonwealth's forests is likely an untenable position in light of the Constitution of Virginia; and the will of the Assembly to retain all jurisdiction of firearm regulating code unto themselves; and they not expressing any negative sentiment toward carrying handguns openly.
As such; please re-write the proposal to include open -carrying of handguns in the Commonwealth's forests as well.
Thank you,
