Guidance Document Change: In 2021, the Virginia General Assembly passed House Bill 1904 and Senate Bill 1196, and was signed into law by Governor Northam. The law establishes new requirements to support culturally competent educators in the Commonwealth. The Guidance on Cultural Competency Training for Teachers and Other Licensed School Board Employees in Virginia Public Schools was developed for the Board to fulfill the statutory mandate to provide guidance on the minimum standards for the local training requirement.

Cultural Competency Training a Misnomer

Training teachers to indoctrinate students into critical race theory is a training in incompetence and abuse. The Marxist ideas behind CRT have failed in every society that Marxism has oppressed. Forcing children to view one another as evil or privileged or oppressed is child abuse because it is a lie. It produces false guilt and shame. It is racist at its core and perpetuates the idea that children of a certain population will never rise to their true level of competence because of the color of their skin. This is unAmerican. It pushes a false and treacherous rewrite of our history and a disgraceful unAmerican worldview. This does not belong in our schools and should be punished wherever it is found, not lauded as something good. All children need to be educated in the skills that will make them competent to succeed in this world. Confusing them, lying to them, neglecting true education is abusive. Someone had a strong warning for leaders like this. "It would be better for them to be thrown into the sea with a millstone tied around their neck than to cause one of these little ones to stumble."
