I am writing to express my objection to any mandates for covid vaccines for students and teachers at any school in Virginia, whether pubic or private. Vaccines that have been around for years are fine, but the covid vaccine is new, long term effects are still unknown, and this disease is not deadly for younger people and people in good health. There have been tens of thousands of deaths and severe adverse reactions to the covid vaccine, including myocarditis in young people, as reported by VAERS. Because of the health risks involved in these new vaccines and new vaccine technologies, this needs to be a personal medical decision between individuals and parents and their doctors. The government should have no part in mandating health decisions for individuals when they cannot guarantee the safety of the vaccine that they are mandating. Those who feel that the risks outweigh the benefits should by all means get the vaccine. However those who don’t should not be forced by the government to make a medical decision whose risks they are unwilling to take.
