Yes to Vaccine Mandates for teachers, staff, and students-as there is already precedence for it

Our children have a right to a safe environment to attend school. With many areas of our state still having low vaccination rates among adults, this will be necessary to keep our children in in-person school, support mental health of our staff and students, and prevent unnecessary spread of disease and severe outcomes. We already have many vaccination requirements in schools. In a global pandemic that has put our country in first place die number of cases and deaths in the world, it makes even more sense to require the highly effective vaccines that are readily available in our country. There are many places in the world that are not as lucky to have this option. We should be using EVERY tool we can to keep our schools safe from covid and do our part to stop the pandemic and limit future mutations of the virus. I agree with exemptions for valid medical reasons. I disagree with testing in lieu of required vaccination, if staff or parents do not want to follow public health best practices that have precedence, then why do they wish to be in public schools where scientific facts are taught? If they don’t want to accept facts, then they should not be allowed to put the majority of us who do base decisions on facts at risk of disease. If we want to get back to a more normal time again, this is going to be a key step in getting there. Mandate the safe effective vaccines in in-person schools.
