No to mandates for children

More childhood deaths have occurred from influenza in previous years than from current pandemic Covid deaths in children, yet we have never mandated influenza vaccines.

Data shows that healthy children have a higher resilience against Covid than do adults. Children with high risk factors such as asthma, heart disease, obesity, etc., may be good candidates for receiving  a vaccine to protect them. This decision should be on advisement by their treating physician, on an individual basis.

Delta is on the decline in most areas today. Local school systems are capable of responding to surges by mitigating measures such as masking and distancing and the protocol we have all learned to practice.

There is genuine concern for vaccine injury, especially in young males. It would be unconscionable to forcefully require a vaccine that will inflict permanent damage such as heart disease on *some* of our previously healthy children, just to protect them from a disease that is currently estimated to have a .01% fatality rate in children. Parents with reason to be concerned for their own children's health should be permitted to obtain a vaccine for their own child, under pediatrician advisement.

We know that vaccinated adults are capable of catching and spreading Covid, due to vaccine failure. Probably, studies will become available that will tell us the likelihood of vaccinated children having breakthrough cases. Vaccines tend to make people more falsely confident while being less careful.

There is strong data that people who have recovered from Covid have a stronger immune protection from Covid exposure than do those vaccinated patients who have never had Covid. It doesn't make sense to require a vaccine for people who already have antibodies again it, no matter their age. Maybe we should be testing our vaccinated teachers and staff for Covid antibodies.
