The limited, scientifically obtained, data on the COVID-19 vaccines indicate that they reduce the likelihood of severe illness. Other similarly obtained data show that children 1) have very little risk of severe illness even without the vaccine and 2) have very rarely transmitted the virus among themselves or to adults. Therefore, requiring children to be vaccinated has no scientific basis. Nevertheless, the petitioner and other parents can choose to vaccinate their children if they are fearful. However, they should note that these COVID-19 vaccines have had some as yet insufficiently studied impact on the reproductive systems of males and females, as indicated by anecdotal claims of swelling of the the testicles of some males and disruption of the menstrual cycles of some females. Therefore, parents would be wise to not rush to vaccinate children to mitigate a very low risk when the consequences of the vaccine, as yet unknown, may be significant. Sterilization? Birth defects? Only time will tell. Every person must be free to assess the risks and make choices that balance those for themselves. Therefore, and because such mandates are unconstitutional anyway, vaccines should not be mandated for anyone -- child or adult.
