There is no question that Covid is a terrible thing. I had acquaintances among the 700k and feel sad for them and their families. I’ve had the shots, worn the mask. My lament is the difference between the exaggerated perception of risk and the actual statistical risk. Only .89% of the unvaccinated population ends up in the hospital—less than one percent. Even fewer-- .01% of the vax population are sick enough to go to the hospital. Hospitals in Virginia are managing the Delta wave, which in any case is receding. Covid will never be eradicated, but it is on the way to becoming endemic. Covid is a very real concern “for those at risk”. Those at risk should take appropriate precautions. The rest of us should get on with our lives.
