Description To establish guidelines that govern drilling, equipping, and operating of vertical ventilation holes which are used to remove methane gas from underground coal mines and the practice of mining near or through vertical ventilation holes or gas wells. This regulation is being developed to replace the existing regulation that is being repealed.

Goals of Regulation 1. To establish guidelines that govern drilling, equipping, and operating of vertical ventilation holes which are used to remove methane gas from underground coal mines.
2. To establish safe practices when mining near or through vertical ventilation holes or gas wells.
