Goals of Regulation |
The goal of the regulation remains the same as when it was first published. The regulation gives the Virginia Department of Social Services the authority to increase or decrease the period of eligibility of federally funded cash and medical benefits if so directed by the Director of the federal Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR). Changes in the period of eligibility are tied to federal funding levels for refugee services. Refugee cash and medical benefits have been provided since 1975. Since 1986, the federally defined period of eligibility has changed several times.
