Action:
Maintenance of Insurance Action
Action 6973
General Information
| Action Summary |
The Virginia Board for Asbestos, Lead, and Home Inspectors (“the Board”) is amending the Home Inspector Licensing Regulations to add an express requirement to the regulation that a home inspector must maintain the insurance policy that is required for home inspector licensure.
Currently, the Board requires that an individual applying for a home inspector license provide evidence of having obtained a general liability insurance with minimum limitations of $250,000 per occurrence. Further, proof of such policy must be submitted to the Board in order for a home inspector to renew licensure. The Board’s regulations require that a licensee report the cancellation, amendment, expiration, or other change of the insurance policy to the Board, and the regulations prohibit a failure to maintain the insurance policy. However, the regulations do not expressly require that the insurance policy be maintained by the licensee.
In addition, the regulatory action will amend the Board’s prohibited acts to create a single prohibited act that prohibits failure to comply with the Board’s license maintenance requirements. |
