General Information
Action Summary Federal law authorizes the Appraisal Qualifications Board (AQB) to set the minimum criteria for states to license and certify real estate appraisers. The AQB’s minimum qualification requirements are expressed in The Real Property Appraiser Qualification Criteria. The AQB revised the Criteria to revise the definition of licensed residential real estate appraiser. The Virginia Real Estate Appraiser Board regulations are being amended to comply with the January 1, 2021, Criteria changes.

Executive Branch Review This Action is exempt from Article 2 of the Administrative Process Act. The normal executive branch review process is not required. As such, it can be submitted directly for publication and is effective upon publication.
